A Day in the life of: Lorraine Frain (Meon Out of Hours Manager)

Lorraine Frain Out of Hours Manager

While at school, I enjoyed my work experience at Meon Valley Travel, and those two weeks made me decide that I wanted a career in the industry.

I started straight from school on the YTS scheme and I worked my way up to management, running three offices. I left travel in 2003 for 10 years to raise my two children and returned to travel in 2015. In 2022, I started work at Meon, so I feel like I have come home.

Once you have a career in travel, it is difficult to leave; it always draws you back. It doesn’t matter how long you have been in the industry,l you are always learning and this is what I love. Things change all the time, and I am still booking new destinations as the world of corporate travel grows.

There are many stories, some funny, some not so. Clients can call us day and night when anything goes amiss. We’re here to help regardless of time. If it’s important to you, it’s doubly important to us.

We’ve had clients calling from trains admitting they forgot to buy a ticket, all the way to local hospital recommendations and family updates. Nothing surprises you in this industry!
