One of the key messages was just how well-connected Birmingham Airport is. It offers an excellent mix of full-service and low-cost airlines, giving customers plenty of choice depending on budget and destination.

North America via Aer Lingus, including US Preclearance in Dublin.

Some exciting route and capacity updates include:
Ryanair increasing capacity.
Jet2 expanding with new routes including Palermo, Samos, Kalamata, Bergerac and Jersey.
easyJet basing six aircraft at Birmingham for Summer 2026, with new destinations including Izmir, Antalya and Enfidha.
Air India introducing the larger Boeing 777-300ER on the Birmingham route, offering First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins, reflecting growing premium demand.
Lufthansa increasing aircraft size on the Frankfurt route while maintaining daily Munich services.
EgyptAir launching the Midlands' only direct service to Cairo from October.
£300 Million Investment Programme
Birmingham Airport is investing £300 million between now and 2029 to improve the overall passenger experience.
The investment is already delivering results, with improved customer satisfaction scores, record passenger numbers and the busiest June in the airport's history.
Security Improvements
The airport now has 12 next-generation security lanes, meaning passengers generally no longer need to remove liquids or electronics from their hand luggage. There may still be occasional delays due to government requirements for additional manual bag checks.
Lounges & Terminal Improvements
Aspire has recently opened a brand-new lounge, with another opening shortly, alongside refurbishing its existing lounge. Investment is also taking place across hotels, restaurants, cafés and retail outlets throughout the airport, with a new departure lounge area due to open later this year.
